Media Under Fire for Spreading Unverified Reports Amid Red Fort Blast Coverage

In a concerning reflection of the current state of Indian media, several news channels rushed to broadcast unverified information during their coverage of the Red Fort explosion. In an apparent race for TRP-driven sensationalism, multiple outlets erroneously reported that veteran actor Dharmendra had passed away at the age of 89.

The misinformation was quickly debunked when Sunny Deol, followed by Hema Malini and Esha Deol, issued official statements confirming that Dharmendra is alive and responding to treatment.

The incident has sparked sharp criticism of media practices, with viewers questioning the credibility and accountability of news organisations that declared a living actor dead without verification.
