India’s First Privately Managed Railway Station Unveiled in Bhopal

India’s vast railway network has marked a transformative milestone with the comprehensive redevelopment of Rani Kamalapati Station in Bhopal, formerly known as Habibganj Station. The facility has become the country’s inaugural railway station to operate under private management, setting new benchmarks in passenger amenities and services for millions of commuters.

Centrally located in Bhopal, Rani Kamalapati Station functions through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework. Indian Railways retains ownership of the infrastructure, while a private operator handles day-to-day operations and maintenance. The overhaul was executed by the Bansal Group in collaboration with the Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC), ushering in enhanced efficiency and modern facilities.
