Atlee has emerged as one of the most in-demand directors in Indian cinema, particularly following the success of his Bollywood debut, Jawan, which grossed over Rs. 1000 crore. His collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan was widely praised, leading fans to eagerly anticipate another partnership. However, Atlee's subsequent project with Salman Khan was shelved due to budget issues.
For some time, Atlee has been keen on directing a film featuring Allu Arjun. With the Salman project no longer moving forward, Atlee has redirected his attention to Allu Arjun's film. Nonetheless, the project is encountering challenges, primarily due to Atlee's reported demand for an astonishing Rs. 100 crore salary. This figure has left many producers astonished, as it is typically reserved for top-tier stars.
Allu Arjun's recent blockbuster, Pushpa 2, has also seen an increase in his remuneration expectations. While producers are willing to pay him generously due to his immense popularity, they are hesitant about meeting Atlee's hefty fee, as it would significantly inflate the film's overall budget. Consequently, several Kollywood producers who initially showed interest in the Atlee-Allu Arjun collaboration have withdrawn due to these financial concerns. The future of this prestigious project remains uncertain.
