Trump defends DOGE’s move to cut aid to India: ‘Why are we giving $21 million?’

Donald Trump has defended the Department of Government Efficiency's (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, decision to cancel a $21 million fund designated for "voter turnout" in India. Trump questioned the need for the financial support, citing India's economic growth and high tariffs. He stated, "Why are we giving $21 million to India? They got a lot more money".

The DOGE published a list of taxpayer-funded programs that have been cut, including the $21 million allocated for India's voter turnout. The ruling BJP termed the funding "external interference" and linked the initiative to George Soros, accusing him of influencing domestic politics.
