Tesla starts hiring in India after Musk-Modi meeting

Tesla has started hiring in India, indicating plans to enter the country's electric vehicle (EV) market following a recent meeting between CEO Elon Musk and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The company has posted 13 job openings on LinkedIn, primarily in Mumbai and Delhi, covering roles such as service technicians, customer engagement managers, and delivery operations specialists.

This hiring move comes after years of Tesla considering entry into India but being hindered by high import duties on EVs. Recently, the Indian government reduced the import tax on luxury EVs priced above $40,000 from 110% to 70%, making the market more appealing for Tesla24. Although there is no confirmed timeline for vehicle sales in India, analysts suggest that Tesla may initially import cars before potentially establishing local manufacturing operations25.
