Pope asks for prayers in message from hospital
Pope Francis has requested prayers from Catholics as he continues treatment for double pneumonia at Rome's Gemelli Hospital. In a message shared on February 23, 2025, the 88-year-old pontiff expressed gratitude to the medical staff and those who have sent him well-wishes, stating he is "confidently continuing" his treatment.
This marks the second consecutive Sunday that Pope Francis was unable to deliver the traditional Angelus prayer in person due to his health condition. The Vatican has described his situation as "critical," but he remains alert and is receiving supplemental oxygen.
In his message, the Pope reflected on the outpouring of support he has received, particularly from children, and urged people to pray for peace in conflict areas, including Ukraine, Palestine, and Sudan. He emphasized the importance of prayer and thanked everyone for their affection during this challenging time.
