Punxsutawney Phil performed poorly in weather predictions, ranking 17th out of 19 groundhogs with an accuracy rate of just 35%. Here's how the top groundhogs stack up:

Top Groundhog Predictors:
  • Staten Island Chuck: 85% accuracy (most accurate)
  • General Beauregard Lee (Georgia): 80% accuracy
  • Lander Lil: 75% accuracy
Phil's Performance:

  • Overall accuracy: 35-39%
  • Worse than a coin flip
  • Even taxidermied groundhogs outperformed him
Interestingly, Phil's predictions improve slightly when he doesn't see his shadow. In those cases, he achieves a 47% accuracy rate for predicting an early spring.The tradition continues despite low accuracy, with the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club claiming Phil's longevity is due to a "secret recipe" elixir that extends his life.

White House fires National Security Agency chief

Watch more The White House has fired General Timothy Haugh, the director of the National Security Agency (NSA), and his deputy, Wendy Noble. Haugh also led U.S. Cyber Command, overseeing both offensive and defensive cyber operations. The reasons for their dismissal are unclear, but it follows a series of high-profile firings by the Trump administration,  including National Security Council staff members. Lt. Gen. William Hartman will serve as the acting NSA director, while Sheila Thomas becomes the acting deputy director .   Top Democrats have criticized the move, citing concerns about national security and the lack of explanation .
