The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog across large parts of England and Wales, effective until 11am on Thursday. The warning covers a significant area from Exeter and Cardiff up to Hull, including cities like Oxford, Birmingham, and Lincoln.

Key Details:
  • Fog will be "dense" with visibility below 100 meters in some areas
  • Expected to persist through Thursday morning
  • Potential travel disruptions for buses, trains, and flights
  • Some fog may thin and lift into low cloud by dawn
Impact:

  • Drivers urged to check conditions and ensure fog lights work
  • Potential delays and cancellations across transportation networks
  • Lincolnshire saw a football match abandoned after just seven minutes due to thick fog
The warning comes after a recent cold snap that saw the UK's coldest January night in 15 years, with temperatures dropping to -18.7°C in Altnaharra, Scotland.
