Deepseek chaos suggests 'America First' may not always win

The emergence of China's DeepSeek AI is challenging the U.S. tech landscape, highlighting that significant funding and advanced chips are not always necessary for success.

Launched on January 10, 2025, DeepSeek's R1 model has quickly gained traction, surpassing ChatGPT in downloads and causing substantial market shifts, including a $600 billion drop in Nvidia's value.
Analysts suggest that U.S. export restrictions may have inadvertently spurred Chinese innovation, complicating the geopolitical dynamics of the AI race. This situation raises critical questions about the effectiveness of current U.S. strategies in maintaining technological supremacy.
