Amazon is discontinuing its "Try Before You Buy" program for Prime members, effective January 31, 2025. Initially launched in 2017, the service allowed Prime members to order up to six clothing items, try them on at home for seven days, and only pay for items they wanted to keep.

Reasons for Discontinuation:
  • Limited item selection
  • Increasing adoption of AI-powered shopping features
  • Desire to reduce operational complexity and return costs
Replacement Features:

  • Virtual try-on augmented reality tool
  • AI-powered personalized size recommendations
  • Enhanced size charts
  • Review highlights
An Amazon spokesperson stated that customers are now preferring these new AI-driven features to help them find the right fit, making the "Try Before You Buy" service less necessary. The move is part of Amazon's broader cost-cutting initiatives in 2025.
