Dame Joan Plowright, a renowned British actress with a remarkable six-decade career, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the age of 95

She was a celebrated stage and screen star, best known for her powerful performances and her marriage to Sir Laurence Olivier

Personal Life

She was married to Laurence Olivier from 1961 until his death in 1989. In 2014, she retired from acting after becoming legally blind due to macular degeneration. Her final public appearance was in the 2018 documentary "Nothing Like a Dame" alongside fellow acting legends Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, and Eileen Atkins.Plowright was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004 and was considered one of the last surviving stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood.

White House fires National Security Agency chief

Haugh also led U.S. Cyber Command, overseeing both offensive and defensive cyber operations.
