Yankees acquire closer devin williams from Brewers

The New York Yankees have acquired All-Star closer
Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers in a significant trade.

In exchange, the Brewers receive left-handed starter Nestor Cortes, infield prospect Caleb Durbin, and $2 million in cash considerations.

Williams, 30, is known for his elite changeup, nicknamed "The Airbender," and has recorded impressive statistics, including a 1.25 ERA and 14 saves in 22 appearances last season. He is entering his final year of arbitration eligibility and will be a free agent after the 2025 season. This acquisition aims to bolster the Yankees' bullpen following the departure of Clay Holmes to the Mets, while Cortes will help strengthen the Brewers' rotation as they continue their competitive push in the NL Central.
