Woman dies after being set on fire on New York Subway

A horrific incident occurred on Sunday morning when a woman was fatally set on fire on an F train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station in Brooklyn. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Sebastian Zapeta, a Guatemalan migrant, was arrested after the attack.

  • Victim was sitting motionless when the suspect approached
  • Used a lighter to ignite her clothing
  • Flames engulfed her within seconds
  • Victim was pronounced dead at the scene
Suspect's Actions

  • Officers discovered the victim by smell and sight of smoke
  • Used fire extinguishers to douse flames

  • NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch called it "one of the most depraved crimes"
Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive behind this shocking attack.

White House fires National Security Agency chief
