Tornado warning at San Fransisco

On December 14, 2024, San Francisco experienced its first-ever tornado warning, issued by the National Weather Service.

The alert was prompted by severe thunderstorms and radar indications of rotation, affecting downtown and parts of San Mateo County. Residents were advised to seek shelter immediately.

The warning was lifted shortly after, around 6:15 a.m., as the storm moved northeast. This unusual weather event follows a recent tsunami warning in the area, highlighting the city's vulnerability to extreme weather conditions
