The tragic case of Sara Sharif




The tragic case of Sara Sharif has reignited calls for a ban on smacking in the UK following the conviction of her father, Urfan Sharif, and stepmother, Beinash Batool, for her murder. Sara, a 10-year-old girl, was found dead in August 2023 with over 70 injuries, including bruises, burns, and fractures. During the trial, it was revealed that Sharif had inflicted severe abuse on Sara, claiming he had "legally punished" her for being "naughty."

 

The horrific details of her death have prompted discussions about child protection laws and the normalization of violence against children. 
 
Advocates argue that such cases highlight the need for stricter regulations against physical punishment to prevent further tragedies.

White House fires National Security Agency chief

Watch more The White House has fired General Timothy Haugh, the director of the National Security Agency (NSA), and his deputy, Wendy Noble. Haugh also led U.S. Cyber Command, overseeing both offensive and defensive cyber operations. The reasons for their dismissal are unclear, but it follows a series of high-profile firings by the Trump administration,  including National Security Council staff members. Lt. Gen.
