Critics labeled the declaration an "international embarrassment," reflecting deep-seated fears of authoritarianism in a nation with a history of military rule. 

Yoon's impulsive decision has jeopardized his political future, prompting calls for impeachment and highlighting the resilience of South Koreans in defending their democracy

White House fires National Security Agency chief
