Niners scorn selfish devondre campbell's refusal to play

San Francisco 49ers linebacker De'Vondre Campbell faced heavy criticism after refusing to enter the game against the Los Angeles Rams during the third quarter.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that Campbell declined to play when asked to replace injured linebacker Dre Greenlaw, stating,

"He said he didn't want to play today." This incident occurred during a crucial moment in the game, leading to a 12-6 loss that significantly hurt the team's playoff chances.

Teammates, including George Kittle and Charvarius Ward, expressed their disappointment, labeling Campbell's decision as "selfish" and "immature." Kittle remarked that it was a "dumb" choice that negatively impacted the team, while Ward suggested Campbell might face release from the team. Shanahan indicated that such behavior was unprecedented in his coaching career and hinted at potential disciplinary actions moving forward.
