New Permanent Secretary and Chief Execuyive at HM Revenue and Customs

John-Paul (JP) Marks has been appointed as the new Permanent Secretary and Chief Executive at HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), succeeding Sir Jim Harra who will retire in April 2025.

  • Currently Permanent Secretary for the Scottish Government
  • Appointment follows an external recruitment competition
  • Endorsed by the Cabinet Secretary and Prime Minister
  • Will take over leadership of HMRC in April 2025
