Mark Gastineau confronted Brett Favre

Mark Gastineau confronted Brett Favre over a long-standing grudge regarding the NFL sack record during a memorabilia show, accusing Favre of "taking a dive" to allow Michael Strahan to break his record. Gastineau, who set the single-season record of 22 sacks in 1984, felt that Favre's actions in the final game of the 2001 season, when Strahan achieved 22.5 sacks, were unfair.

In the tense exchange, Gastineau expressed his hurt and frustration, stating, "You really hurt me, Brett," while Favre acknowledged Gastineau's feelings but clarified that he had no intention of harming him and was simply trying to help Strahan
