Luigi Mangione charged with murder of Unitedhealthcare


Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old, has been charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was shot on December 4, 2024, outside a hotel in Midtown Manhattan. 

The incident, captured on security cameras, involved Mangione approaching Thompson from behind and shooting him multiple times. Following the shooting, Mangione fled and was later arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after a tip-off.

Investigators believe the attack was premeditated, as evidence found at the scene included shell casings with phrases associated with criticisms of the healthcare industry and a handwritten manifesto expressing grievances against corporate practices. 
The case has sparked significant public discourse regarding the U.S. healthcare system and has led to mixed reactions online, with some rallying behind Mangione as an anti-establishment figure. He is currently being held without bail and faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder.

White House fires National Security Agency chief
