FIDE world chess Championship, Singapore

The 2024 FIDE World Chess Championship, hosted in Singapore, has seen Indian challenger Gukesh Dommaraju take a significant lead against reigning champion Ding Liren

After a series of seven consecutive draws, Gukesh won Game 11, breaking the deadlock and moving ahead in the match. This championship marks a historic moment as it features two Asian players competing for the title for the first time in 138 years.

The match format requires a player to reach 7.5 points to win, with Gukesh now needing just 1.5 points from the remaining games to become the new champion.
