Facebook, Instagram down


On December 11, 2024, Meta's platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, experienced a significant global outage.

The issues began around 11 PM IST, affecting users primarily in India and the United States, with reports of slow loading times and complete inaccessibility. 

Over 100,000 incidents were reported at the peak of the outage

Meta acknowledged the "technical issue" via posts on X, assuring users they were working to restore services quickly. By early morning on December 12, Meta reported that services were nearly back to normal. 

Users faced various error messages during the downtime, and while most services resumed within hours, some minor issues persisted temporarily

White House fires National Security Agency chief

Watch more The White House has fired General Timothy Haugh, the director of the National Security Agency (NSA), and his deputy, Wendy Noble. Haugh also led U.S. Cyber Command, overseeing both offensive and defensive cyber operations. The reasons for their dismissal are unclear, but it follows a series of high-profile firings by the Trump administration,  including National Security Council staff members. Lt. Gen. William Hartman will serve as the acting NSA director, while Sheila Thomas becomes the acting deputy director .   Top Democrats have criticized the move, citing concerns about national security and the lack of explanation .
