Air India flight cancellation

Air India has announced the cancellation of approximately 60 flights operating on the India-US route, a decision that comes amid the peak travel season of November and December. This move is attributed to a shortage of aircraft due to ongoing maintenance issues.

According to reports, the affected routes include flights to and from major US cities such as San Francisco, Washington, Chicago, Newark, and New York. The cancellations are expected to impact travelers during the festive and winter holiday season, a period of high demand for air travel between India and the United States

The non-availability of widebody planes, which are essential for long-haul flights, has been cited as the primary reason for the cancellations. Maintenance issues have reduced the number of aircraft available for these routes, forcing Air India to adjust its flight schedule accordingly

This development is likely to result in higher fares for the remaining flights, as the reduced capacity will lead to increased demand and subsequently higher prices for tickets on the India-US routes

Passengers who have booked tickets on the canceled flights are advised to contact Air India for alternative arrangements or refunds. The airline is working to minimize the disruption caused by these cancellations and ensure that affected travelers are accommodated on other available flights.
